Related event of „bauhaus imaginista: Response to the Bauhaus“ exhibition to be held at the National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto from August 4th. The exhibition traces how the influence of Bauhaus’s education developed in Japan and India. In this lecture and discussion, Hiromitsu Umemiya and Helena Chapkova, who were deeply involved in the planning and organization of the exhibition, talk about the influence to Japan. Mr. Umemiya introduces the acceptance and development in Japan by focusing on Kawakita Rennshichiro who was one of the key persons in Bauhaus education system acceptance in Japan, including the roles Takehiko Mizutani and Iwao Yamawaki, his wife Michiko Yamawaki, who were the Japanese students of Bauhaus.
